WebDec 15, 2007 · The two shafts have to be assembled so the U-joints are in phase. You stated there's no keyed spline so they could be out, I'd check that first. If they ARE in phase and you rotate the rear shaft 90 degrees, then you'll be 90 out of phase and cause a vibration for sure.
